About Us
The Rue Of The Enclave
Growing up in Zimbabwe, I learned the importance of being within a village; a community of people with the common mission of “us before self”. As a child, I remember the sweet calling of my nickname “Rue”, which is short for Ruramai – meaning “Be holy” in our tribal language of Shona. After moving to the U.S. and starting my family in 2015, I longed for a village of my own for emotional and spiritual support. Years later, my village community has grown and been a vital foundation for my story and collection—Rue’s Enclave.
Rue’s Enclave was birthed from the love of self, roots, and culture. My village/enclave has enriched and blessed me with many beautiful souls, strong minds, and generous hearts from vibrant cultures. Rue’s Enclave features the collective essence of African, Asian, Caribbean, and Western artisan crafts. The countries featured in Rue's Enclave will include crafts from: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Burundi, Cameroon, Eritrea, Ghana, Haiti, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the United States – the countries of my villages’ origins.
Each purchase goes towards the local artisan who designed the purchased piece, promoting economic opportunities and self sufficiency globally. The love of Zimbabwe and the desire to support the artisans’ local economies planted a seed in my heart to share the beauty of our cultures. We are One!
Stay tuned for “The Clave Spotlight” as we feature and share the heartbeat and souls of Rue’s Enclave— our artisans.
