For centuries, women from all over the African continent have adorned their bodies with colorful and elaborate beaded accessories ranging from majestic pieces to crown their temples, to gorgeous, layered waist beads around their waist, all the way down to dainty anklets around their ankles. For most cultures, waist beads are a part of a cherished tradition that is passed down from generation to generation. Waist beads are typically worn to accentuate the natural curves of a woman body as well as for weight management. When used as a method for weight management, the beads will either start to get tighter to signify weight gain or loosen to show weight loss.
In some cultures, the waist beads are worn under clothing and are a personal and intimate accessory between husband and wife while other cultures proudly display them for all to see. Our waist beads are made from a mix of glass seed beads and Australian crystal beads and are secured using gold plated brass drum clasp or string to tie. Our string waist bead collection takes the guess work out of sizing and allows you to position and tie them exactly where you want them. Wearing your beads
1. Wrap the beads and place them in the desired position - not too tight here
2. Remove any additional beads based on the placement (Be sure to leave a little extra room for movement)
3. Tie the waist beads and cut off any excess thread.
